Running sounding at 67 Books

I went to the library to see Brian Feldman's latest performance 67 Books and somehow I ended up volunteering. Some of the volunteers that were supposed to show ended up backing out, so I gladly agreed to help out Brian as there was free lunch involved. As a part of National Library Week, Brian had one person read a book on the awning of the Downtown library for an hour. There are 67 hours in a week that the library is open, so 67 books were read that week on top of the library. To get up on the awning you had to take a scissor lift. The sound guy, Lee, was going to take a break and go back to his real job, so Brian asked me to run sound for a bit. This picture was taken when Elizabeth Maupin was reading Pride & Prejudice. There was a fan on top of the tech booth. Toward the middle of Elizabeth's reading a beautiful blue jay landed on top of the fan. Just as I was about to take a picture, the blue jay flew away. Then I heard a POP. The fan slowed down, the mixer was off, Elizabeth Mapuin's voice was not being amplified. I went to the side of the awning and yelled down to Brian that the power was off. He told me he would be up there in a moment. It turned out the outlet that the power cord went in to needed to be reset. That did the trick and my panic attack ended.
